Bilingual Pre-Litigation Attorney Serving Injured Clients Across North Carolina

Vanessa Beltrán Ortiz is a Pre-Litigation Attorney at Horton & Mendez Injury Lawyers, working with the firm’s pre-litigation team to build injury claims for maximum value from the first day of a case. Fluent in English and Spanish, Vanessa practices from the Greensboro–Winston-Salem–High Point area and represents injured clients and their families throughout North Carolina.

Vanessa has practiced law for more than fifteen years. She began her career in Puerto Rico, clerking while still in law school and then spending five years in private practice in healthcare, corporate, and medical malpractice law, before relocating to North Carolina and being admitted to practice here. She spent two years in general practice in the Triad, then joined one of North Carolina’s largest plaintiffs’ firms, where she spent more than five years representing injured workers and injury victims in workers’ compensation and personal injury claims.

From 2024 to 2026 Vanessa served as an Adjunct Professor at Elon University School of Law, teaching the next generation of North Carolina lawyers. She chaired the Hispanic/Latino Division of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice and remains a member of its executive committee, and she served as President of the Board of Directors of the Hispanic League, a nonprofit that has worked since 1992 to expand access to education, health, and community resources for the Hispanic population across the Triad.

For Spanish-speaking clients, Vanessa’s practice removes a barrier that too often decides whether an injured person gets fair treatment. She takes calls, gathers facts, explains options, and negotiates with adjusters in her clients’ own language — no interpreter, no translated summaries, no meaning lost between the client and the person handling their claim. Her undergraduate work in forensic psychology also informs how she listens to clients describe an injury and its aftermath.

Vanessa lives in Kernersville, North Carolina, and volunteers with several local community organizations, including no-kill animal rescues and know-your-rights campaigns.
